Description

Dea, the angelic blind girl from Victor Hugo's AMAZING novel L'homme qui rit. (I haven't finished reading it yet. This year I started lots of novels/biographies most of which I haven't been able to finish due to enormous amounts of stuff to read for college O_O)
The silent film version of this novel is simply brilliant. Mostly I find it hard to watch silent films because there is a lot of disbelief to suspend. However, I liked all of the silent films I\'ve seen, it\'s just not the first thing I'd choose to watch. Silent films are great in terms of telling a story with visual elements only. (I feel like I said 'silent films' too many times.)
the only thing I disliked from this movie is that it ignored what V.H. said about the comprachicos not being spanish or gypsies (!) so there's a sign at the begining of the film explaining how the comprachicos where gypsies and therefore giving the story an ideology opposed to the one hugo meant to give. (i hope this made sense!)

have some pics from the film:
